Robert Duncan McNeill

As Tom Paris on Star Trek Voyager

Robert Duncan McNeill is currently starring as Starfleet Lieutenant Tom Paris on the UPN series STAR TREK: VOYAGER, now headed for a fourth season in 1997/'98.

Robbie (as he is known to his friends and family) has added the role of "director" to his credits, making his directorial debut on VOYAGER with an episode entitled "Sacred Ground", filmed in 1996, and then following up that success by directing one of the season's most popular episodes, "Unity" (return of the Borg!) later in the year.

Robbie was born in North Carolina and was, as he put it, "a corporate brat", on the move with his family for some years until they finally settled in Atlanta, Georgia, where he got his first taste at acting in a local company as a child. After high school, Robbie moved to New York City and enrolled at Juilliard where he spent two years studying the trade.

It was while he was attending Juilliard that Robbie was cast as Charlie Brent on the popular ABC daytime drama ALL MY CHILDREN [ed by Pam: the *best* Charlie Brent they've ever had!], performing the role from 1985-1988, and earning him a Daytime Emmy nomination. During this time he also produced and starred in an off-Broadway play, and starred in the science fiction feature film MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE with Dolph Lundgren, Courtney Cox, and Frank Langella.

After leaving ALL MY CHILDREN, Robbie landed a starring role in the national touring production of Stephen Sondheim's hit Broadway musical INTO THE WOODS.

Robbie eventually settled in Los Angeles with his wife, Carol, but continued his career in New York by appearing in the off-Broadway production of LUCY'S LAPSES. Robbie and Carol also founded Real Play Productions in New York, an organization to provide inner-city school children with creative ways of dealing with crises and harsh issues.

Robbie returned to Los Angeles to star in the Daytime Emmy Award Winning ABC After-School Special FLOUR BABIES, directed by Linda Lavin. He also appeared in the Coast Playhouse production of CHILD'S PLAY with Gregory Harrison.

Returning to New York again, Robbie starred on Broadway in John Guarre's production of SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION, which also starred Stockard Channing, though left the production a year later.

Some of Robbie's television guest starring roles include series such as THE TWILIGHT ZONE, MURDER SHE WROTE, QUANTUM LEAP, LA LAW, and of course, STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION (in an episode entitled "The First Duty"). Robbie landed a starring role in the ABC series GOING TO EXTREMES. His credits also include a recurring character on ABC's HOMEFRONT, and a role on the CBS nighttime soap opera SECOND CHANCES with Connie Selleca. He also appeared as Romeo in ROMEO AND JULIET at the Ford Theater, where he earned a Drama Logue Award as Best Actor.

Robbie is currently working to further his directorial career by directing a short film entitled THE BATTERY, which he also co-wrote, and which stars VOYAGER cast member, Ethan Phillips.

Robbie currently resides in Los Angeles, CA, with his wife, Carol, and their two children, daughter Taylor and son Kyle.
